Tim Morehouse Fencer Eli Dershwitz Earns World Cup Silver on Team USA

Madrid, Spain (May 12-13) — The Olympic qualifying has begun!

The first World Cup that counts toward qualifying for the Olympics occurred in Madrid May 12-13.

Tim Morehouse Fencing Club has multiple contenders competing on the circuit hoping the earn those few spots to represent their home countries.

Eli Dershwitz, representing the U.S., earned a silver medal in the teams competition. Competing with Andrew Doddo, Colin Heathcock and Saron Mitchell, the team was bested by Hungary.

Ziad Elsissy, representing Egypt, finished in the 12th position in teams.

Individually, Elsissy made the top-32 finishing in 19th place. Dershwitz finished in 34th place. Raphael “Fito” Western, competing for Puerto Rico, finished in the 184th spot.
