Trial Lesson FAQs

How much is a trial lesson?
$40 for a 20-minute one-on-one lesson with a TMFC coach.
What should we wear or bring?
Just athletic clothes and sneakers — all fencing equipment is provided. Arrive 10 minutes early so we can get you sized for a mask and saber.
What ages can take a trial lesson?
Ages 4 through adult. Whether you're a young beginner, a teen trying a new sport, or an adult picking up fencing for the first time, we'll match you with the right coach.
Where are trial lessons offered?
At all four TMFC locations: Upper West Side (104th & Broadway), East 49th Street in Manhattan, Port Chester in Westchester, and New Canaan, CT.
What happens after the trial?
Your coach will discuss goals, answer questions, and recommend the best TMFC program for your family.
Can my child start immediately after the trial?
Yes. Once you've completed the trial, you can enroll in the program your coach recommends and get started right away.
How do I choose the right program?

You don't have to guess. After the trial lesson, your coach will recommend the best fit based on your child's age, goals, and experience.

Still unsure? Many new families choose our Starter Program, which includes 4 classes, 4 individual lessons, and equipment — giving your child a chance to build confidence and experience fencing before committing to a recurring membership.
