Questions & Answers

Teen Program FAQ

Everything families ask before enrolling.

Is my teen too old to start fencing?
Not at all. Beginners are welcome year-round — many of our most successful fencers started as teens. The Bronze track is built for new and recreational fencers, with a clear path into competition when they’re ready.
What are pull-out lessons and small groups?
Short-format lessons built right into class time — no extra scheduling needed. They run before or during the first 30–40 minutes of class as 10-minute 1-on-1s or 20–30-minute small groups, led by class staff under the program lead’s supervision. Included in both Teen programs.
Recreational or competitive — which track?
Both live in the same program. Every class mixes Tactics & Strategy and Bouting & Footwork formats. Teens with competitive goals can add private lessons, compete in 6–7 in-house tournaments per season, and be evaluated for the Elite Program.
What equipment does my teen need?
The Group Class Equipment Package ($450) covers mask, glove, jacket, underarm protector, weapon, and cords. Electric jackets and chest protectors are borrowed from the club at no cost.
How does early registration work?
Register and pay your annual by check before June 26 to lock the returning rate: Bronze $4,000 · Silver $7,000. Annual plans run September–June.
