ELITE CAMPS AT TIM MOREHOUSE FENCING CLUB

TYPES OF CAMPS

TMFC Elite Camps are offered at key points throughout the year, each serving a specific purpose within an athlete’s competitive season. These camps are designed to work together — not as one-off experiences, but as part of a deliberate progression.

Core Elite Camps

Pre-Season Camps
Establish technical foundations, reset habits, and prepare athletes for the training and competition cycle ahead.

Pre-National Camps
Sharpen tactical clarity, bout management, and competition readiness leading into major national events.

In-Season Elite Training
Maintain sharpness, reinforce consistency, and address necessary adjustments while athletes are actively competing.

Summer Elite Camps
Build training volume, depth, and confidence through extended, high-quality training that accelerates long-term development.

Types of Camps

Critical Camps for Athletes Pursuing National Results

For athletes targeting national-level success, the following camps are considered essential anchors in the training year:

  • Winter Elite Camp (Dec. 26–30)
A cornerstone training block immediately before the busiest and most important part of the competitive season.

  • Pre-National Camps (June)
Designed to prepare athletes physically, tactically, and mentally for Summer Nationals.

  • Post-Nationals Reset
A short break following Summer Nationals to recover and reset before the next training cycle.

  • Pre-Season Camps (Late Summer)
At least one week of focused training before the start of the sleep-away camp period.

  • Elite Sleep-Away Camp (August)
One to two weeks of immersive training that plays a major role in long-term athlete development.

  • Final Pre-Season Camps (Late August / Early September)
The final preparation phase before the fall competitive season begins

How This Fits Into a Holistic Training Program

Holistic Program

Athletes who see sustained national success typically engage in multiple elite camps each year, aligned with their competitive calendar and long-term goals.

For athletes pursuing national-level results, elite camps are not optional extras — they are a core part of the development pathway.

TMFC’s holistic training model combines:

  • Year-round group training

  • Regular private lessons

  • Consistent competition experience

  • Strategic camp participation at key moments in the season

Elite camps provide the training density, competitive environment, and focused feedback that are difficult to replicate in weekly training alone. They allow athletes to consolidate skills, pressure-test decisions, and make meaningful jumps in performance.
