Elite Competitive programs
Season: Sept. 1, 2025-June 18, 2026
ABOUT
As Tim Morehouse Fencing Club (TMFC) enters its 10th full season, we are proud to be recognized as one of the top fencing clubs in the world.
Over the past five years, TMFC has:
Won more national medals in Youth-10, Youth-12, and Youth-14 than any other club in the U.S.
Had students recruited to elite colleges including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, and Cornell, among other top-tier universities.
Sent athletes to the Olympic Games and we have numerous athletes competing internationally and winning medals on the international stage.
The club is regularly ranked in the top 5 in the country for NAC medals, with multiple athletes earning spots on World Championship teams.
TMFC features a staff of Olympians and elite coaches, and a reputation for excellence that continues to grow. Our elite programs in saber are offered at our West Side, East Side, and Westchester locations—serving students of all levels with world-class training and support and our Elite Foil program is offered at our Westchester location.
Excellence is developed—and with each new season we look to grow and improve our programs.
The Path to Results: Commitment, Consistency, and Training
Achieving high-level results is a long-term journey that demands consistent commitment, dedication, and perseverance. Training with the best coaches and teammates requires pushing through the ups and downs—there are no shortcuts to success.
Group Classes
To get the most out of the Elite Program, students should attend 4–5 group classes per week, including at least one weekend day.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the most important days to attend, as they are least likely to conflict with tournaments or travel.
Specific schedules may vary by location and weapon.
Private Lessons
For students pursuing elite national results, we recommend 3–4 private lessons per week with their designated coach.
Camps (Essential)
Participation in camps is a critical part of elite development:
Elite Winter Camp: December 26–30
Pre-Nationals Camp: Mid to late June
Pre-Season Camp: Summer
Elite Sleep-away Camp (with Olympic and Harvard Coaches):
August 2–9 – Sabre, Foil, Epee
August 9–16 – Saber Only
These camps are designed to maximize performance and preparation for the most competitive stages of fencing.
Tournaments
Competing regularly is also essential to athlete development. Students in the Elite Program should aim to compete 1–2 times per month, including:
North American Cups (NACs)
Regional events
SYCs (Super Youth Circuits) or SJCCs (Super Junior and Cadet Circuits), depending on age and experience
Club Tournaments
Additionally, two of the most important national tournaments each season are:
Summer Nationals (typically held June 27 – July 8)
Junior Olympics (for Cadet and Junior age categories)
Tournament types and frequency will vary by age and level, but consistent competition is a key part of preparing for long-term success.
