TMFC at Summer Nationals: Nazir Primus Wins GOLD — National Champion in Junior Men’s Saber
A Golden Day 5 at the 2026 USA Fencing Summer National Championships
PORTLAND, Ore. — Tim Morehouse Fencing Club has a national champion. Nazir Primus won GOLD in Junior Men's Saber at the USA Fencing Summer National Championships on Wednesday, capping TMFC's biggest day of the tournament: three national medals — Primus's gold, silver for Grace Feng in Cadet Women's Foil, and a veteran medal for Madelon Rosenfeld — with 45 TMFC fencers competing across six events.
🥇 Junior Men's Saber — Nazir Primus, National Champion
Primus swept his pool 6–0 (+23), then cut through a 380-fencer field bout by bout. In the gold-medal final he came from behind to win 15–14 — a national title on the sport's biggest domestic stage.
The squad behind him ran 22 deep: Connor Chung charged from 93rd seed into the Top 16 (16th), while Gabriel McCarthy (18th), Devyn Anthony (19th), Marcus Pinto (23rd) and Deven Mattoo (29th) all reached the Top 32. McCarthy and Anthony joined Primus with perfect 6–0 pools, and eight TMFC fencers earned national points.

🥈 Cadet Women's Foil — Silver for Grace Feng
Grace Feng is the national runner-up. A perfect 6–0 in pools (+19) and a string of elimination wins carried her all the way to the gold-medal bout in a 272-fencer field. Iris Yang matched the 6–0 pool sweep and finished 35th, with Elizabeth Field (39th) alongside — national points for all three.
Also fencing: Amabel Wang (70th), Savannah Li (90th), Anastasia Roberts (114th), Kai De Castro (165th), Amelia Youm (216th), Ella Zhu (219th), Joey Rustogi, Sophie Huang, Sofia Gomez and Mila Paek.
🎖️ Vet-70 Women's Foil — A Medal for Madelon Rosenfeld
Madelon Rosenfeld reached the Table of 8 — 8th in the nation, adding a veteran national medal to TMFC's haul.
🤺 Cadet Men's Foil — Ghedini and Chen Both Top 16
Luca Ghedini (11th) and Ethan Chen (13th) both swept their pools 6–0 and fenced into the Top 16 — national points for both. Also fencing: Declan Hart-Syed (101st), Michael Grigoriev, Chase Kwon, Kai Toomre and Andrew Li.
⚔️ Veteran Men's Saber
Augusto Pinto finished 9th in Vet-50 Men's Saber — one bout from the medal round — and Tai Park took 22nd in Vet-60 Men's Saber.
