TMFC at Summer Nationals: Isaac Yook Charges to 9th as Cadet Saber Squad Delivers

Day 6 at the 2026 USA Fencing Summer National Championships

PORTLAND, Ore. — One victory from another medal. Isaac Yook swept his pool and charged to 9th place in a 332-fencer Cadet Men's Saber field on Thursday, headlining a Day 6 that put thirty Tim Morehouse Fencing Club fencers on the strips across six events — one day after the club's golden Day 5.

⚔️ Cadet Men's Saber — Yook 9th, Two Pool Sweeps, 17 TMFC

Isaac Yook went 6–0 in pools (+23) and won bout after bout into the Table of 16, finishing 9th of 332 — one win from the medal round. Marcel Ursu matched him with his own 6–0 (+22) sweep and surged from the 59th seed to 17th. Marcus Pinto (28th) and Aram Clark (29th) reached the Top 32, and Miles Chambers (43rd) the Top 64.

Also on the strips: Vedh Srivats (74th), Gianni Mele (75th), Christopher Ao (82nd), Dhruv Mattoo (154th), Joshua Messinger (155th), Ethan Chiang (160th), Alexander Mermegas (199th), Marcus Avery (237th) and Elijah Spencer-El (258th) — with Leo Shapiro and Nolan He taking their first bouts at a national championship.

🤾 Y-14 Women's Saber — Choi Backs Up Her Bronze

Charlotte Choi finished 11th of 266, fighting into the Table of 16 one day after winning Cadet Women's Saber bronze — falling just 10–15. Sofia Cafagna took 20th (Top 32) and Nora McCarthy 60th (Top 64), with Anika Kabiling (115th), Angela Lau (143rd) and Jiyoung Lee (184th) rounding out the squad.

🎯 Foil — Div II Women's and Div I-A Men's

Kai De Castro cracked the Top 32 (19th) in Div II Women's Foil, with Ella Zhu (42nd), Anastasia Roberts (44th) and Sofia Gomez (54th) all in the Top 64, and Ande Ferrari (90th) and Amelia Youm (105th) close behind. In Div I-A Men's Foil, Ethan Chen stepped up to the senior field a day after his Cadet Top-16 and finished 52nd of 140.

🛡️ Veterans and Épée

Tai Park and Augusto Pinto suited up together as "The Haphazards" in Veteran Team Men's Saber, battling to 10th of 17 teams, while Touma Carpenter competed in a 273-strong Div II Men's Épée field (191st).
