Featured Fencer: Olivia Mermegas

New York, NY — She has beautiful moves on the strip. And it will come as no surprise that Olivia Mermegas is a trained ballerina and has been doing double duty — ballet and fencing — for the past five years. She and her brother Alexander are dedicated fencers, commuting from New Jersey to train. Get to know Olivia below.

How long have you fenced: 6 years, although ballet was more of a primary focus for 5 of those years.

What you love about fencing: I love how even though I have been fencing so long, there is still so much to learn and get better at.

Favorite tournament/bout and why: Capital Clash SYC 2023. I fenced my first cadet event and won my first DE.

Interests outside of fencing: I’ve trained and taken Royal Academy of Dance Ballet exams for six years. I also trained in classical singing for six years. I like musical theater and hanging out with my friends when I can.
