Ziad Elsissy is the African Champion

Cairo, Egypt (June 20, 2023) — Solid gold.

Tim Morehouse Fencing Club’s Ziad Elsissy out fenced all of his competition at the Senior African Championships to emerge as the definitive gold medalist and champion of the African Zonals for Men’s Saber.

In fact, his tightest bout of the day (15-14) was against his Egyptian teammate Mohamed Amer, also a coach at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club, who ultimately earned bronze.

Also competing at the Zonals was Coach Babacar Keita, who competes for Senegal. He finished in 12th place out of the competitors.

Elsissy was a double gold medalist. In Senior Men’s Saber Teams, Egypt won gold over Tunisia. Keita’s Senengal finished in fourth place.

Congratulations to all of these fencers and their coaches.
