Summer Nationals, Day Seven: Ella Calise Medals in Y-14 Women's Foil

Minneapolis, MN (July 8, 2022) — Tim Morehouse Fencing Club’s deep field of women’s foil fencers produced a medal.

Ella Calise climbed to the top of the 160 competitors to make it to the medal stand in eighth place.

Teammates Iris Yang made the top-32, finishing in 27th place. Catherine Zhou and Zizi Dai each made the top-64, coming in at 34T and 50th, respectively. Grace Feng (70) and Eleanor Li (94) each made the top half.

In Division III Men’s Saber action, Matthew Fields made the top-64 coming in at 51. Sam Sugiura made the top half at 98 out of 160 competitors.

The 2022 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge are taking place at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota from July 2–11, 2022. More than 4,500 competitors from 45 states and 12 foreign countries are competing in more than 100 events over 10 days. Fencers range from age seven to 84, competing in events that start as Y-10 and run to Veteran-80 with all imaginable categories of age, gender, and weapon in between.
