Scarsdale School Enjoyed Fencing Day at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club

Port Chester, NY (Nov 11, 2022) — Veteran’s Day was made extra special for kids from Greenville Elementary School.

Close to 30 first graders from Scarsdale and Edgemont visited the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club‘s Westchester location in Port Chester. They were treated to a day of learning the fundamentals of fencing with Olympic silver medalist, Tim Morehouse and Olympian Mamoudou Keita, who both coach at the club.

The students suited up in fencing whites and lamé jackets, were fitted with face masks and practiced the basics with Coach Tim and Coach Mama.

This specific class was chosen because Morehouse’s children, Jackie and Zoe, joined this first grade class, as the family resides in Scarsdale.

The twins are test subjects of sorts, said Morehouse. “Both Jackie and Zoe started fencing in the past year. I saw how they took to it. It was really great to be able to teach so many local young students to learn the sport of fencing, and give back to my community.”

In addition to the Westchester club in Port Chester, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club operates a location in Connecticut in Stamford and another on the Upper West Side of New York City.
