Orlando, FL (Oct 28, 2023) — Nickolas Rusadze is a gold medalist.

The Tim Morehouse Fencing Club member outlasted all of his opponents in Cadet Men’s Foil at the October North American Cup at the Orlando Convention Center. This win is especially sweet, as it bests the bronze medal he won in this same event last year.

The October NAC, or North American Cup, is the first national competition in the 2023-2024 season. Earning national points puts fencers in contention for the Junior Olympics and junior national teams that can compete internationally.

Also competing in this event were several TMFC teammates, including:

  • Philip Matsakh, 28th place

  • Jonah Lee, 36th place

  • Ethan Chen, 54th place

  • Leon Shapiro, 80th place

  • Brendan Lee, tied at 90th.

Rusadze is a native of South Salem, NY, where he is a junior at John Jay High School school. He trains at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club in Port Chester with Coach Slava Grigoriev (his father).

Congratulations!!
