Chappaqua's Amabel Wang Wins 3 Medals, Earns Rating at Music City SYC/RCC

Birmingham, AL (December 2-4, 2022) — Being lucky is good, but with stellar results like Amabel Wang’s, skill is clearly on her side.

This Tim Morehouse Fencing Club foil fencer Wang to Birmingham, AL for the Magic City SYC/RCC at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center over the weekend. And it was worth it.

The tournament started slow for Wang with a ninth-place finish in Y-12 Women’s Foil on Friday.

She rebounded on Saturday to take both gold in Y-10 Women’s Foil and an impressive sixth-place medal in Cadet Women’s Foil. The Cadet performance gives Wang her first rating, an E22, making her one of the youngest fencers in the country with a rating.

Sunday was another stellar day for Wang, as she took a bronze medal in Y-14 Women’s Foil.

Wang is in fifth grade at the Robert Bell School in Chappaqua. She also plays the violin, likes singing, arts & crafts, eating candy and playing video games. She trains with Coach Slava Grigoriev at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club’s Westchester location in Port Chester, NY.

Congratulations to Amabel Wang, Coaches Eddie and Slava Grigoriev and her family.
