World Championships: A Wrap-Up for Tim Morehouse Fencers

Milan, Italy (July 22-30, 2023) — Tim Morehouse Fencing Club is now home to the men’s saber world champion thanks to the hard work and talent of Eli Dershwitz, the first gold medalist from the United States.

Men’s saber bronze medalist Ziad Elsissy is a whole host of firsts: first Egyptian, first African and first Arab to win bronze on the world stage. Other than Tim Morehouse, Elsissy may be the winningest coach at TMFC.

Several other members of the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed at the World Fencing Championships. They included:

  • Sabrina Fang (Canada) - 44th, Women’s Individual Foil. 8th, Women’s Team Foil.

  • Mohamed Amer (Egypt) - 37th, Men’s Individual Saber. 13th, Men’s Team Saber.

  • Rafael “Fito” Western Reyes (Puerto Rico) - 97th, Men’s Individual Men’s Saber.

  • Babacar Keita (Senegal) - 137th, Men’s Individual Saber.

Congratulations fencers, your coaches and your families. We’re very proud of all of you!
