Team Egypt's Ziad Elsissy Wins Bronze at the Senior World Championships

Milan, Italy (July 25, 2023) — Team Egypt’s Ziad Elsissy won bronze at the Senior World Championships in Men’s Saber.

This is the first time an Egyptian, an African and an Arab has won bronze on the world stage.

Elsissy is known to his students at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club as “Coach Ziad,” and represents the club on the world stage. In fact, the students attending fencing day camp at the Port Chester location took a break from training to watch his bronze medal bout against Sandro Bazadze.

This win guarantees him a slot for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Also, Coach Mohamed Amer, also competing for Egypt, finished in 37th place.

Both fencers will be back in action on Thursday with Team Egypt fencing in the Men’s Saber Team competition.

Congratulations to both fencers, coaches and families.
