Tim Morehouse Fencers Make Smashing Starts at the Buckie Leach RYC

Jersey City, NJ (April 29-30, 2023) — For our youngest fencers, the end of the season is the start of a competitive career.

The youngest Tim Morehouse fencers had an opportunity to try out the skills they honed all year at the Buckie Leach RYC and Non-Regional Y-8 in Jersey City. For fencers who have been competing all season, this was the final RYC before Summer Nationals.

This event marks the first time in many years that Tim Morehouse has earned medals in all three weapons.

Top medal winners include:

• In Y-12 Men’s Saber, TMFC fencers were gold (Aram Clark) and silver (Vedh Srivats).

• Avery Marcus took silver in Y-10 Men’s Saber, leading the pack of 16 competitors from TMFC.

• In Y-8 Women’s Saber, Anika Von Marie Kabiling took silver, while Grace Chang took bronze.

• Bennett Sabino won bronze in Y-8 Men’s Saber.

• Ethan Kim won bronze in Y-14 Men’s Saber.

TMFC student coaches Robert Wang, Lex Francois, Gabriel Clark, Shaun Kim and Pompie Yannopoulos were on hand to help the coaching staff with strip coaching.
