TMFC Foilists Jackson Wong and Ethan Chen Earned a Double-Double at the Ben Gutenberg SYC

Rochester, NY (Sept 29 - Oct 1) — Jackson Wong and Ethan Chen had a weekend for the books.

First, Wong takes gold in Cadet Men’s Foil, earning his C23 rating and Chen wins fifth place. Then the duo are tied for bronze in Y-14 Men’s Foil. Officially, they were both upgraded to D23 ratings. However, Wong passed himself the day before with his C23 rating.

Foilist Kai Toomre also won gold, in the Y-12 Men’s event.

And then there was an avalanche of silver medals earned at the Ben Gutenberg Memorial SYC/RCC in Rochester, including:

  • Marcus Pinto in Y-14 Men’s Saber

  • Leo Shapiro in Y-10 Men’s Foil

  • Charlotte Choi in Y-12 Women’s Saber, and

  • Royce Zhao in Y-12 Men’s Saber.

Also in Y-12 Men’s Saber, William Lucas took bronze and Aidan Song won sixth place.

Alaia Varah won fifth place in Y-10 Women’s Saber. Luca Yang won fifth place in Y-8 Men’s Foil. Michael Grigoriev won sixth place in Y-12 Men’s Foil. And finally, Amabel Wang won seventh place in Y-12 Women’s Foil.
