Eli Dershwitz, Ziad Elsissy Take Medals on the World Stage

Eli Dershwitz

Tunis, Tunisia (January 12-15, 2023) — Eli Dershwitz is on top of the world.

The top American saber fencer beat out 139 of the best fencers worldwide to win bronze at the Saber Grand Prix in Tunisia.

Other members of the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club participating were Coach Ziad Elsissy (representing Egypt) who took 18th place and Coach Rafael “Fito” Western Reyes (representing Puerto Rico) in 115th place.

After the Grand Prix, Coach Ziad traveled to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Arab Fencing Championship. He won gold at this tournament — the first Egyptian in history to win a medal in this competition.

Congratulations gentlemen.
