Amabel Wang and Coach Slava
Garfield, NJ (August 20-21, 2022) — Chappaqua’s Amabel Wang started her season with a triad of medals.
The Tim Morehouse Fencing foilist competed in three events at the Durkan Rooster in New Jersey this weekend and won medals in all three. In Y-10 Women’s Foil, she took gold. In Y-12 Women’s Foil, she took fifth place. And in Y-14 Women’s Foil, she earned a bronze medal.
She was joined by several of her teammates on the medal stand. Brendan Lee earned gold in Y-14 Men’s Foil. Brynnley McKee took silver in Y-14 Women’s Saber. Connor Chung took bronze in Y-14 Men’s Saber. Alexander Mermegas took seventh in Y-12 Men’s Saber.
TMFC fencers dominated Y-10 Men’s Foil with Michael Grigoriev taking gold, Thomas Czarnecki taking bronze, Lucas Ma in sixth place and Ancen Wang taking seventh.
And Nora-Louise McCarthy, (cadet fencer Gabriel’s sister) made her RYC debut taking a bronze medal in Y-10 Women’s Saber.
