Summer Nationals, Day Four: Division I Women's Saber, Division I Men's Foil, Vet-50 Women's Epée, Cadet Men's Saber

Minneapolis, MN (July 5, 2022) — It was a day of firsts for several Tim Morehouse Fencing Club fencers.

TMFC fielded its first Veteran épée fencer, Joanne Gerrish, in the Vet-50 Women’s event. She has been training at Tim Morehouse Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Ct, and made a solid debut.

After a year of preparation and practice, both Marcus Singer and Alexander “Lex” Francois made their Summer Nationals debuts in Cadet Men’s Saber.

Also in Cadet Men’s Saber, Shaun Kim and Robert Wang made the top-16, Kim at 13th and Wang in 14th.

Leanne Singleton-Comfort made the top-32 in Division I Women’s Saber, taking the 30th spot.

The 2022 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge are taking place at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota from July 2–11, 2022. More than 4,500 competitors from 45 states and 12 foreign countries are competing in more than 100 events over 10 days. Fencers range from age seven to 84, competing in events that start as Y-10 and run to Veteran-80 with all imaginable categories of age, gender, and weapon in between.
