Pawling's William Gerrish Wins Gold, Earns Rating

Newtown, CT (October 30, 2022) — It was all treats for William Gerrish.

Competing at Candlewood Fencing’s Great Pumpkin tournament, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club’s Gerrish won gold in Men’s Open Foil and earned his E22 rating as a result.

Gerrrish, who trains with Coach Dan Bass and Coach Eddie Grigoriev at Tim Morehouse in Port Chester, went undefeated in pool and direct elimination bouts, winning gold in a 15-3 final.

Currently in 7th grade at Mizzentop Day School in Pawling, NY, Gerrish is very active at school. This is his third year as class representative on Student Council and he is a member of the varsity soccer and basketball teams.

He started fencing recreationally at age 8. This is his fourth season competing regionally and nationally.

His mother, Joanne Gerrrish, is an épée fencer and also earned her E22 rating this year.

Congratulations to all!
