Salt Lake City, UT (December 9-12, 2022) — Perhaps the international experience tipped the scales in their favor?
Alina Zhang and Iris Yang both earned medals at the North American Cup competition in Salt Lake City.
In the Cadet Women’s Foil category, Zhang took sixth place and Yang took an eighth-place medal, earning an A22 rating in the process.
These young women have been competing for Team USA on the international circuit in Nurenberg, Germany and Budapest, Hungary, in the past weeks.
Zhang was a member of Team USA 2, which won bronze in Cadet Women’s Foil in Eislington, Germany.
Both fencers train at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club in Port Chester, NY. They work with Coach Slava Grigoriev.
