New York, NY (Oct 30, 2021) — The youngest fencers made their mark at the second Morehouse Youth Saber Cup.
For many, turning out for their first ever competition proved to be a great move. These competitors hit the strip Saturday, Oct. 30 at the second in the Morehouse Youth Saber Cup series, at the Tim Morehouse Fencing Club West End location (West End Collegiate Church at 77th Street and West End Avenue, New York).
In the mixed Y-8, Leo Shapiro was consistent, earning second for the second consecutive week. Bayan Elahi moved up, taking third over a fifth place finish last week.
Chloe Chen made her competition debut this weekend earning fifth place. Chen started fencing at TMFC at age 3 (the youngest member ever) and at 6, it looks like she will enjoy a fun and exciting future in fencing.
In Y-10 Men’s Saber, Timothy Chang moved up to second place this week. In Y-10 Women’s Saber, Kimi Elahi also moved up, from sixth to third.
In Y-12 Men’s Saber, Alexander Gimbrere improved to second place over a robust field of competitors. Timothy Cheng also improved week over week, moving from eighth to sixth.
It was a great experience to prepare beginner for future regional and national events.
