Saint Louis, MO (Oct. 29 - Nov. 1, 2021) — Happy were the fencers that were back on the strips at the first North American Cup tournament of the season.
Tim Morehouse Fencing Club fencers earned four medals over as many days at the October NAC at Americas Convention Center in Saint Louis, while club fencers competed in 12 of the contested events overall.
Fencers competed in saber, foil and épée in Y-14, Cadet, Junior, Division I and Parafencing for both men and women over four days from Friday, Oct. 29 through Monday, Nov. 1.
TMFC national medals winners include Shaun Kim (Y-14 MS, sixth place), Ziad Elsissy (Div. I MS, Silver), Sabrina Fang (CWF, sixth place) and Amanda Li (CWS, seventh place). Amanda Li also renewed her rating, earning an A21.
There were many TMFC fencers who made the top-16 and top-32 as well. In foil, Nickolas Rusadze made top-32 in Cadet Men’s and top-16 in Y-14 Men’s, Christina Ferrari made top-32 in Division I Women’s, Alina Zhang made top-16 in Cadet Women’s and Iris Yang made the top-32 in Y-14 Women’s.
In saber, Brynnley McKee made top-32 in Y-14 Women’s, Kata Varhelyi just missed the medal stand at ninth and Amanda Li made the top-32 in Division I Women’s, Shaun Kim and Gabriel Babayev both made the top-32 in Cadet Men’s.and Madison Duckett made the top-16 in Cadet Women’s.
