Is Fencing Safe?
Yes — fencing is one of the safest competitive sports when taught properly. At TMFC, safety is built into everything we do. New students learn fundamentals step by step, with an emphasis on control and proper technique before any free fencing.
All athletes wear fencing-specific protective gear (mask, jacket, glove), and classes are closely supervised with appropriate spacing and pacing.

For many families, TMFC becomes a constant.
We have students who start at age 7 or 8 and continue through middle school, high school, and into college. As schools, teachers, and peer groups change, fencing — and TMFC — often remain a stable, familiar place where athletes feel known, supported, and challenged.
During the teenage years especially, our coaches become an additional positive voice — reinforcing confidence, accountability, and good decision-making as students navigate new responsibilities and pressures.
"We don't push children toward a single definition of success. We create an environment where effort is valued, quality matters, and potential can reveal itself over time."
What Parents Say
Hear from the families who've made TMFC part of their lives.
"Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. My son has grown so much — not just as a fencer, but as a person."
"Creative, reliable, and genuinely passionate. The coaches know every kid by name and push them in the best way possible."
"Every detail was thoughtfully executed. We started with a trial lesson and now my daughter competes nationally. We couldn't be prouder."

is fencing safe?
Yes—fencing is a safe, structured sport when taught properly, especially for beginners.
At TMFC, safety is built into everything we do. Fencing is taught in a controlled environment, with professional coaching, clear rules, and required protective equipment. New students learn fundamentals step by step, with an emphasis on control, awareness, and proper technique before any free fencing takes place.
All athletes wear fencing-specific protective gear, and classes are closely supervised to ensure appropriate spacing, pacing, and instruction.
All TMFC coaches are active, accredited members of USA Fencing, the national governing body for the sport. Coaches complete required training, background checks, and continuing education so families can feel confident their child is learning in a safe, professional environment.
