Moedling, Austria (November, 2019) - Tim Morehouse Fencer Catherine Flanagan participated in the European Cadet Circuit, a World Cup tournament featuring Cadet competitions. She fenced in the individual and team events for Cadet Women’s Foil.

Catherine fenced with Team USA in Cadet Team Women’s Foil, bringing home a Bronze Medal in this category. She also fenced in Individual Cadet Women’s Foil, where she finished in 60th place out of 209 participants.

Deerfield, IL (November, 2019) - Students of Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed in the Windy City SYC/RCC, a three-day tournament at the Berto Center. Our fencers participated in 8 competitions, achieving great results on the fencing strip. They were accompanied by Coach Michael Kim throughout the events.

Tim Morehouse fencers achieved 10 medal-wins throughout the tournament. Notably, Shaun Kim won a Gold Medal in Youth-12 Men's Saber, and Richard Li won a Silver Medal in Youth-12 Men's Foil.

Our fencers brought home four Bronze Medals as well. Bronze Medal wins were achieved by Enzo Bera in Youth-12 Men's Saber, Amaya Javeri in Youth-14 Women's Saber, Richard Li in Youth-14 Men's Foil, and Charlotte Young in Youth-10 Women's Saber. Charlotte also won a Top-8 Medal in Youth-12 Women's Saber.

Additionally, Aria Bevacqua won three medals at this tournament! She brought home Top-8 Medals in Youth-12 Women's Saber, Cadet Women's Saber, and Youth-14 Women's Saber.

Nowell Gibson Achieves a Top-32 Finish at the Challenge Mondial in Grenoble, France

Grenoble, France (November, 2019) - TMFC Fencer Nowell Gibson competed in the Challenge Mondial, an International Cadet tournament. The competition took place at Club Escrime Parmentier, where Nowell participated in both the individual and team events in Cadet Men’s Epee.

In Cadet individual Men’s Epee, Nowell reached a Top-32 result, brining home a 26th place finish.

In Cadet Team Men’s Epee, Nowell fenced with Team USA. He was joined by teammates Nicholas Candela and Ryan Lee. They achieved an impressive Top-16 result, coming in 10th place.

TMFC Fencers Compete in the Men’s Saber World Cup in Cairo, Egypt

Cairo, Egypt (November, 2019) - Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020 resumed this weekend and three Olympic hopeful fencers from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed in the Men’s Sabre World Cup - Ziad Elsissy, Fito Western, and Jonah Shainberg.

The three TMFC fencers each represented their home countries of Egypt, Puerto Rico, USA and Team USA respectively.

Ziad Elsissy, who also coaches at TMFC, had the best result from the club as he achieved a Top-32 finish. Along the way, he defeated the #1 seeded fencer in the tournament in the round of 64 before falling 14-15 to make the round of 16.

Jonah and Fito lost close matches on the first day. All of them are competing to try to make the Tokyo 2020 Olympic team and we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming competitions!

Sofia, Bulgaria (November, 2019) - Four students from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed in the Sofia Cadet International. They competed in both individual and team events, reaching impressive results on the fencing strip.

TMFC Fencers Madison Four-Garcia and Chelsea Delsoin achieved strong results in Cadet Women’s Saber with both earning international points and team points by finishing in the round of 32 or better.

Madison had her best international result to date, making it to the round of 16 and finishing in 10th place. She hurt her ankle in the process and continued on with determination. She lost 12-15 to make the top-8 but showed a lot of grit and strength in defeat.

This was a first Cadet International tournament for Chelsea Delsoin. She achieved an impressive 24th place result.

TMFC fencers Peter Hammer and Lysander Denner competed in Cadet Men’s Saber. Peter achieved a Top-32 result, finishing in 27th place. Lysander Denner came in 60th place, reaching a Top-64 result.

Team USA achieved a Bronze Medal in the Cadet Women’s Saber Team event. The team consisted of Chelsea Delsoin, Madison Four-Garcia, Siobhan Sullivan, and Erica Wu. TMFC Fencers Chelsea Delsoin and Madison Four-Garcia won their first International medals fencing in this category.

In the Cadet Men’s Saber Team event, TMFC Fencers Peter Hammer and Lysander Denner fenced on separate teams, which both made it into the Top-16.

One team consisted of TMFC fencer Peter Hammer, paired with teammates Jaden Callahan, Alexander Jeffords, and Matthew Limb. This team came in seventh place, bringing home a Top-8 result!

Lysander Denner teamed with Andrew Gefell and Avery Kim in this competition. They achieved an impressive 9th place finish, bringing home a Top-16 result.

New Haven, CT (November, 2019) - Students from Tim Morehouse Fencing Club competed in the Neil Lazar RYC/RJCC, a two-day RYC/RJCC at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Tim Morehouse fencers entered in 24 distinct events and won 17 medals altogether. Our students brought home one Gold Medal, one Silver Medal, three Bronze Medals, and 12 Top-8 Medals.
