Tim Morehouse's Eli Dershwitz Wins Division I Men's Saber Gold

Minneapolis, MN (October 9, 2022) — Men’s saber fencer Eli Dershwitz, went for the gold and got it.

The Tokyo Olympian and top-rated men’s fencer beat an incredibly stacked field of competitors to earn the gold medal at the October North American Cup.

In. addition, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club’s Ziad Elsissy, also a Tokyo Olympian representing Egypt, earned the fifth place medal. He bested many of the top men’s saber fencers in the United States, including Tokyo Olympians Daryl Homer and Andrew Mackiewicz.

This competition is the first step in making national teams this year. It also puts these competitors on the road to being contenders for the 2024 Paris Olympic teams for their respective countries.
