New York, NY (August 23, 2021) — Harvard University Head Coach Daria Schneider will be a visiting coach at Tim Morehouse Fencing Club in Port Chester on Monday, September 6 from 10am-3pm.

This Labor Day/Rosh Hashanah camps serves as the kick-off camp for the 2021 - 2022 season.

“I have a very individual approach to coaching,” Schneider told Harvard Athletics of what sets her apart as a coach. “It’s important to understand the fencer you’re working with. If you don’t know your fencer as an individual, you are not doing your job as a coach. “

She admits she had a smooth start in fencing herself because she had great coaching from the start. “My first coach was a really good coach and we gravitated toward each other,” she told Harvard Athletics. That coach was Ariana Klinkov.

She comes to Harvard after three seasons at Cornell University where she was named 2018 Ivy League Coach of the Year. In her first season at Harvard, her men’s fencers were the Ivy League Champions and she helped 11 fencers qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Schneider is a five-time US National Team member. Her teams won bronze in the World Fencing Championships in 2011 and 2012. She attended Columbia University, where she enjoyed a record-breaking collegiate career that included winning the NCAA saber championship in 2007.

On Tuesday, Sept. 7 TMFC Founder Tim Morehouse and former Air Force Coach Hamdy Refaree will lead the Rosh Hashanah day camp for both youth and elite fencers.

In addition to coaching at TMFC, Schneider will be available to meet on Zoom session with parents to discuss the college application/recruitment process as part of her visit.
