Phoenix, AZ (July 6, 2023) — Foil, foil and saber. Sixth, fifth and bronze, respectively.
Y-14 Men’s Saber fencer Connor Chung fought until the very end to earn bronze and his B-23 rating. Brendan Lee took sixth place in Division II Men’s Foil. And Ella Calise fought for fifth place from a sea of 251 fencers in the Y-14 Women’s Foil event.
In a busy day for Tim Morehouse Fencing Club, so many fencers did great work. Leon Shapiro (34) made the top-64 in Division II Men’s Foil. Varvara Mankova (24) has a breakthrough moment in Division II Women’s Saber, making the top-32.
Y-14 Women’s Foil had so many stars — Zizi Dai narrowly missed the medal stand at 10th place. Iris Yang (37), Amabel Wang (47) and Grace Feng (52) all made the top-64.
Y-14 Men’s Saber was the same — lots of top performances. Samuel Sugiura (32) made the top-32 and Ethan Kim (39), Enzo Bera (40), Aram Clark (54) and Miles Chambers (64) all made the top-64.
Well done fencers, well done.
